As an integrative therapist, I draw from a wide range of therapeutic modalities including cognitive-behavioral, psychodynamic, humanistic, systemic, Gestalt, and others, tailored to best fit the client's specific situation and requirements. I ensure that all interventions I use are grounded in strong theoretical principles, and I creatively adapt them using metaphors, gamification, or other techniques to enhance their relevance and impact for each client.
As a client, you will always be fully informed and involved in the decision-making process regarding interventions. We will discuss and collaboratively select the approaches that align best with addressing your immediate needs.
The biopsychosocial model is a way of understanding health and well-being by considering three main factors, here is how it manifests in my practice:
I evaluate your physical health by considering factors like genetics, medical history, and any physical symptoms you experience. This understanding helps me see how your body impacts your overall well-being. It's important to note that I'm not a medical doctor, so I don't conduct physical examinations. If there are medical issues, I may recommend consulting a GP or another appropriate healthcare professional.
This aspect will involve discussing your thoughts, emotions, and behaviours to gain insight into your mental state and cognitive processes. For instance, we'll explore your feelings, concerns, fears, past experiences, or any psychological symptoms you may be encountering.
I will explore and take into consideration your social environment, including your relationships with family, friends, colleagues, community, occupation, hobbies, upbringing etc ... Understanding these dynamics helps me evaluate how your social interactions and support systems impact your mental health and overall quality of life.
Examining these biological, psychological, and social dimensions in a holistic manner enables me to achieve a thorough understanding of your unique situation. This understanding guides the development of tailored interventions designed specifically for your situation.
The active effort to challenge and eliminate discrimination and inequality in order to create a beneficial environment for everyone.
Ensuring that everyone, regardless of their background or identity, is welcomed, valued, given equal chances, and treated fairly.
My work integrates Gender, Sexual, and Relationship Diversity (GSRD) best practices, incorporates awareness of neurodivergence, and addresses the specific considerations of individuals with spinal cord injuries or chronic conditions. Additionally, I remain mindful of the profound impact of ethnic, religious, and cultural differences that can influence the therapeutic process.
Offering an anti-oppressive and inclusive practice is not only required by my code of ethics but also reflects my personal values. I believe that every individual should be treated with respect, dignity, and fairness, regardless of their background, identity, or circumstances. This commitment guides my practice, ensuring a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment for all my clients and putting their well-being and goals at the centre of our therapeutic journey together.
